| Because truancy is a complex issue, it often takes more than one intervention to correct the problem. While A.I.M. shows an 88% success rate in reducing truancy and a 90% in keeping families out of court, there are those few whose attendance does not immediately improve after a mediation session. ACT (Attendance Conciliation Team) is a second-level intervention involving school district officials and community members including human services agencies, faith community, juvenile justice, law enforcement and businesses. After a school has made attempts to work with family and an A.I.M. mediation session has occurred, if the student continues to miss days of school, the family is referred to ACT before they are referred to court. Conflict Solutions, LLC trains team members in conflict resolution and facilitation skills so the hearings are collaborative, non-adversarial, individualized and non-threatening while at the same time providing the student and parents with a realistic picture of the situation (i.e. possibility of court, fines, incarceration, etc.). ACT is currently being piloted in Richland School District Two in South Carolina. If you are interested in implementing ACT in your area, please contact us at info@conflictsolutions.org or fill out the form below for more information. Key Benefits
